The befriending and wellbeing supports programme continues to provide tailored, need-based support to older people in our community, helping them to maintain their independence, wellbeing, and quality of life.
This work would not be possible without the dedication, compassion, and commitment of our volunteers, who play a vital role in meeting both the practical and social needs of older people.
The impact of the programme is reflected in the overwhelmingly positive feedback from beneficiaries:
- “I look forward to my volunteers’ visits; they give me a lift, and I would be lost without them.”
- “It makes a world of difference to have someone to talk things through with, it helps to have someone who listens.”
- “I love having a volunteer by my side, not only for the connection but for the practical supports too, like filling out forms or helping me with my iPad.”
- “My volunteer is so supportive and encourages me to maintain my independence; she’s a lovely companion.”
