Referrals

Who we support:

We support people over 65 years in Dublin South. Priority is given to those in critical need of support due to challenges of physical/mental health or due to the persistent experience of loneliness or isolation.

Who can make a referral:

We welcome referrals from all relevant clinicians, including HSE

Supports available:

  • Regular befriending Visits at home/in a café or visiting a place of interest
  • Links to Social Activities/Events in the Community
  • Walking companions
  • Phone Support Calls/help to use devices
  • Community Meals (Good Food Delivered)
  • Other supports based on individual needs

Regular Befriending Visits

Befriending and Supports (B&S) is primarily social support involving regular visits from Making Connections Volunteers.

Telephone support can be arranged 

  • when in-person befriending is not suitable 
  • or when regular short check-in calls are more suitable

Community Meals (Good Food Delivered)

‘Good Food Delivered’ (GFD) is a partnership between Making Connections, the HSE and Airfield Estate. Up to x7 nutritious subsidised meals are delivered to older people identified as being in need of this support.
