Strong social connections are not just good for wellbeing — they are vital for healthy ageing. The WHO Commission on Social Isolation has found that poor social relationships increase the likelihood of cognitive decline by 12–15%.

The good news is that social connection is something we can actively strengthen.

The Walk and Talk Programmes, managed by Making Connections in partnership with the HSE — starting March 24th (Leopardstown) and March 25th (Churchtown)— are free of charge to participants. Programmes are designed to support older adults to stay socially engaged and physically active within their local community.

By creating regular opportunities for connection and movement, we aim to support not only physical health, but overall wellbeing. Referrals are now open: Referrals | Making Connections
